I had a personal reality check two years ago in a hospital bed where fear overcame my soul to the point of hopelessness and I was blatantly faced with my own mortality. That experience has become a creative springboard for my writing. I want to share that genuine hope. At this time people are facing uncertainty about life, the possibility of death, and are on the verge of losing hope. This song is intended to share the hope of Jesus and to reflect His light into the darkness around us.
I wrote ‘Wake Up Sleeper’ about one of my favorite stories in the Bible – found in Luke – when Jesus interrupts a funeral. A little boy had died, and his widowed mother and a group of people were carrying his body to be buried outside of the town when they encountered Jesus. Now Jesus – as a religious leader – should have turned the other way because touching something dead would make Him unclean. But that didn’t stop Jesus. He walked up to the coffin and told the little boy to wake up. In that moment, Jesus took what everyone considered done, over, and dead and brought a little boy back to life.... That’s just what Jesus does today. I pray this song reminds us all that we were dead in our sins, only Jesus can wake us up. That’s the gospel, and it’s our job to tell the world about a Savior who wakes up sleepers even still today. Show More
During times like these we get so caught up worrying about what is to come, that we forget that Jesus is in control. Cori & Kelly, along with Ben Calhoun, wrote this song as a reminder that sometimes you've gotta leave your worries behind, throw your head back and SING your own personal Victory Song! Set for a June 2020 release and sure to get your blood pumping, 'Victory Song' just may become the new summer anthem as we all struggle to find our 'new normal'.
We have been singing and playing together for our church worship team for years. Individually, we started writing music. Chris wrote the music for Your Glory Shines but was struggling to find lyrics. After speaking with our worship Director, Rick Stewart, he suggested asking Andrea to help with lyrics. Andrea took the song and hummed out a melody recording and sent it back to Chris. We worked at rearranging just a little to get the Intro, verses, chorus, feel and then Andrea wrote lyrics. Andrea’s inspiration comes from prayer, the Word, and a reflection of her own faith walk.... Chris added instruments and tweaked vocals for the right sound. We recorded my vocals and background vocals in Chris’ home studio. We asked producer Brian Whitcell for his thoughts. He added a few more instruments and produced what Chris had put together. From there it was sent off to Nashville for mastering. Your Glory Shines was released April, 4 2020. We are honored that God would use this song to speak to the hearts of others. Show More
Have you ever wondered who you are at your heart’s core? I wrestle with that a lot. In fact, when we were sitting down to write this song those were the thoughts that were going through my head. Whatever darkness your walking through today, whatever the world is trying to define you as, know that God is the author and the perfecter of our faith. Jesus sees you today, whatever you are walking through today he sees you and says I love you. He chooses you. Believe it.
'New Season', is a collection of songs that are very personal to Taylor from experiences he and LeAnn, have faced over the past year and a half throughout everyday life. “Like most singer-songwriters, I want my music to help encourage people,” says Vaden. “When it comes to these new songs, I tried to dig a little deeper in my songwriting in hopes that God would use them to meet people right in the middle of whatever season they may be going through.” Each song on the EP has a different style, but the same foundation and message is found throughout.
'You're With Me' is a song based on a number of scriptures which have been an encouragement to my life personally, and I believe would encourage all who listen to it. Sometimes we are faced with difficult situations making us anxious and afraid especially in this time when the whole world is faced with a deadly pandemic. You're With Me is about declaring the truth. In Isaiah 43:2 God says the fire will not burn us. When we go through the waters, He is with us! Let's keep declaring 'You're With Me'.
After a 17 year hiatus from recording anything new due to ministry, raising 5 kids, and just life in general, we are back recording songs that Lord has given us over that time. The first song we have released is called, "I'll Come Running." It's a metaphor about a child that hears a boom in the night (thus the heavy percussive intro of the song), and comes running to his father because he's afraid. This song originally was from a spontaneous worship moment in one of our church meetings. In the midst of fear, and when we feel alone in it, we can come running to Jesus for comfort and find He's running to us as well when he hears us call on Him!
'She's Called Grace' is a song that describes God's grace – and the fact that it's new every morning – from a different and poetic angle. It's as if God (“Grace”) visits you every morning and whispers forgiveness into your ears while your still asleep.
I wrote "Focus on You" based on these unprecedented times of Covid 19. I hope it will help bring some peace to troubled hearts, as it reminds us to turn our focus to God, who is the only one who can bring us true joy and peace, even in the midst of turmoil.
I want to tell you a little bit about the story of the song and why we decided to release it today. I wrote the song with David Leonard and Jon Guerra, and while we were together, we got into this conversation about how each of us have walked through dark nights of the soul. I've walked through that personally, and I've walked through that in community, and I think collectively, as a country and as a globe, we are in a really hard season of collective grief and suffering. I was planning to put this song out on my new record that I'm working on, but it just feels like the time for this song is right now....
It is a song that is for the moments where you just want to shake your fist at the sky, because this life hurts. It breaks. It ends. It confounds us, and it confuses us. But while we're in these chaos, desert valley, dust places, there is an echo from somewhere else that reminds us that we are not alone. That is my hope for this song.
This is probably the most raw song I've ever written, and similarly, the vocal that's on the recording we released today is actually the vocal I recorded the first time I ever sang the song, in the original writing session. I hope that it feels like a match lighting up the darkest night. I hope it feels like a kiss in the middle of this chaos. I hope that it will make you feel less alone, and I hope that it will remind you that there is hope for sure. Show More
1 Corinthians 16:13 NIV
‘Lightning’ is about that spark that God puts inside of us… striking us with passion and igniting a fire that burns inside of us at the moment of salvation. The power of God to use Scripture in the most unexpected ways connects with the story of my older sister. She studied archaeology and always wanted to be the next Indiana Jones. So she moved to Israel and became a Biblical archaeologist, but lost her faith in the process....
I remember having discussions with her about the historical truth of God's Word, but she simply stopped believing the truth. It was hard on my family, because we were all raised as believers. Before my dad passed away, he gave my sister his personal Bible. It had all his notes and highlighted passages, and he said he hoped it meant something to her someday. That Bible sat on her bookshelf for years. But about five years ago, she was going through a hard time and started having these dreams where Jesus came to her and said, ‘follow me.’ She called me up to talk about it and I told her that Jesus was indeed calling her. Later on, she woke up another night after a similar dream, and saw the Bible from our father on her bookshelf. So she opened it up and immediately read a passage highlighted by my dad years earlier that spoke directly to her soul. She called me up again and said that she wanted to give her life to Jesus and asked me to come baptize her. She's been on fire for the Lord ever since! She went from being a skeptic to an advocate, and now she's working to speak to the science community about the truth of Scripture. We never know how God is going to use the seeds that are planted. The Word of the Lord never returns void! We've been to every corner of the world and the Gospel always works. Show More
In a time where this virus is not isolated to one people, group or country or social class - it has become the great equalizer. It is helping us all to reconsider the beautiful concept that we all bleed the same blood. And if we are able to unite and support - be a neighbor to someone, serve someone, reach out to someone - how might those acts of kindness change the scope of our futures, together?
What unites us is ultimately so much stronger than that which divides us.
